It does, however, emulate being able to point and shoot the cannon by overriding your pitch/yaw while holding down the left trigger and allowing you to move a targetting reticule around the area.ĮDIT: Using the language hack appears to not let you play online in the PC version. The 360 version doesn’t allow you to look around the virtual cockpit at all which is a bit crappy.
APACHE AIR ASSAULT DEMO PS3 UPDATE
It’s very competent itself… and I’m planning on playing the game on both systems. Apache: Air Assault - game update 1.021 - Download Game update (patch) to Apache: Air Assault, a(n) arcade game, 1.021, added on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Being able to pick off soft targets by simply looking at them and squeezing off cannon fire is something to behold.Ĭan’t recommend it enough if you’re into helicopter sims.Īs a side note, the 360 SKU got here today from Gamefly. It actually tracks your head and points the apache’s cannon to where you’re looking… so no more faking of this functionality like in previous chopper sims. It also has the best implementation of TrackIR to date for me. The mission variety so far has been great. The game IS language locked to Russian, but there are ways around this.Īnyhow, the game is fantastic. I’ve used this site before to get Precursors and White Gold 2 a few months ago, and have never had a problem. Ok, so I picked this up from yuplay ( ) for $12.50. When you switch to TADS mode, the whole screen is taken over by it allowing you to pan around with the stick and lase targets or fire your MG at them.ĭefinitely recommend checking it out if you’re into helo sims.Īnd those that have checked it out- how the hell do you drop flares? I’ve pressed every button but can’t figure it out. It also emulates TADS, in both TV and infrared mode. I found this to be true in games like Gunship, Jane’s Apache Longbow, and even EA’s Strike series. So you’re not just going completely bonkers blasting off 80 Hellfires… you want to make them count. Review: Apache Air Assault (Sony Playstation 3) There are few things more pleasurable to me in videogames than being able to take control of an AH-64 Apache and blowing the crap out of unsuspecting targets. It’s about 20 seconds for FFAR, and pretty long for Hellfires… over a minute I’m pretty sure. Once you blow through them all, there is a timer that ticks off before they are restocked. The way it works, however, is that you get the correct number of hellfires (8) and FFARs (32). In this game, it’s not Ace Combat levels of absurdity, but you do have unlimited loadout. I really wish someone would release a “sim” on the console with limited loadout. The overall experience is a bit arcade-y, however. It played fairly well on the 360 controller, unlike Birds of Prey. It’s actually pretty damn good! It’s no Longbow 2, but it definitely has a decent flight model (non-arcade). Played the demo for this on my 360 last night and…
